A noter

The ATMO index takes into account 4 pollutants that are subject to French regulations and European given their proven effects on health and the environment. Most of these regulations are inspired by health recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO).

This index represents the average level of air quality of a(...) agglomeration / territory, it therefore does not make it possible to highlight particular phenomena of nuisance (smells, dust…) or very localized pollution that could be encountered in certain areas.

Knowing + on the calculation of the index.

The ATMO index

The Atmo index characterizes the daily air quality of an agglomeration of more than 100 000 inhabitants. For an area of less than 100 000 locals we will talk about simplified air quality indices (IQA). The scale of indices goes from 1 at 10 according to the following levels :

  • Very good : 1 and 2
  • Good : 3 and 4
  • Way : 5
  • Mediocre : 6 and 7
  • Bad : 8 and 9 (Information Threshold and Recommendations – SIR)
  • Very bad : 10 (Alert Threshold – SAL)

These indices are calculated from 0 at 24h. They are estimated every day, Saturday excluded, at 5 p.m. and are scheduled for the next day.
