Wish to contribute to a better understanding of the economy

“We co-construct the speeches with the host companies and ensure that it is as educational and factual as possible. We are aware that, by our visit proposals, we highlight certain sectors of activity more than others. We take care not to offer a visit whose purpose has a proven negative impact on society.” can we read on the Bienvenue en Coulisses website.

Darwin: his history, its construction, its concepts and the future demolition of the Niel barracks

The Darwin space is installed in former Bordeaux warehouses dating from the 19th century, used to store goods from trains that then went to Orléans station (replaced by the Bastide cinema).

Imminent destruction of Niel barracks: Let's not leave concrete!

For six years, the Darwin ecosystem has been experimenting on the scale of the Niel Barracks with a city laboratory where entrepreneurial dynamics, social, cultural and ecological reinforce each other.

Plus 40 associations in the fields of sports and urban cultures, emergency social assistance, of education and urban agriculture embody this participatory component of the Darwin ecosystem.

This place receives multiple requests from associations who want to settle there., sometimes sent by the municipality.

At the request of SAS Bastide Niel, developer and promoter of the ZAC of the same name, the Métropole de Bordeaux decided in January 2017 to put an end to the temporary occupation of approximately 2 hectares of built and non-built land used by these associations grouped together by the federation "La 58ème".

The operation was to contract temporary occupation authorization agreements between Darwin and the Metropolis and the agreements were renewed every year.

In some months, begin demolition and reconstruction work: the real estate law and its need for space in the city will soon begin…

Hence the idea of this petition online, having for title “Let's not leave concrete”…
