Polar fair in Fargues Saint Hilaire: a first that hits home

On this mixed Saturday in May, about 3000 people crowded on Saturday 13 May 2017 to the Polar Entre-deux-Mers festival, sort of book fair, exclusively oriented towards investigations and detective novels, psychological thrillers ... all organized by the association "Les Psychopathes du Polar" and orchestrated in particular by Pépita Sonatine.

It’s in Fargues Saint Hilaire, in Gironde, that this "breeding ground" of authors was from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in this new building called Carré des Forges.

For this first edition, around thirty writers attended, coming from France (Normandie, Paris, Marseille, South West…), from Switzerland or from Belgium.

Franck Thilliez, guest of honor, held the top of the poster. Nevertheless, his writing companions were not all novices in the matter!

Police and justice at the rendezvous

Laurent Scalese, René Manzor and Nico Tackian were also present and they all signed their books with a smile, kindness and good humor.

Marin Ledun, (ardéchois who lives in the Landes), author also, happens to be the sponsor of the organizing association, the Psychopaths of the Polar and a former police lieutenant currently on leave, Olivier Norek, the sponsor of this 1st fair in Fargues Saint-Hilaire.

Two big names too Claude Cancès, former head of the Judicial Police of 36 Headquarters (see this sunday 14 May 2017: Great Reports) and Danielle Thiéry, France's first female divisional commissioner now retired, led a conference on the theme of the criminal police.

Literature and cinema

A second conference on writing for TV series was held, moderated by Dominique Dayau with René Manzor, Olivier Norek, Laurent Scalese and Nico Tackian, scriptwriters.

Next to these big names, other regional authors and not the least : Guy Rechenmann, Simone Gélin, Laurent Philipparie, Corinne Martel, that his career oriented in video games and his activities for children inspires in his thrillers; Nicolas Feuz, well known in Switzerland, acting prosecutor in Neuchâtel; Barbara Abel from Belgium, author in particular of a novel adapted for TV, and many other writers (see list at the end of the article).

Expected and surprising success, for this first edition of the thriller, but most certainly not the last…
