The designs, a not so simple definition…
Alexandre and Kévin have 24 and 25 years, they have just finished their studies and are looking for a job in their field : they followed a course in Applied Arts (both specialize in space design) in Nancy and Lyon (architectural design, going through the sketch, modeling and technical drawing, design project process, art history and other theoretical disciplines).
Student projects
” As part of our studies, we participated in the development of projects with other students in other fields, sometimes totally different (in particular the competition around musical sharing in 2014, proposed by the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry where we obtained a prize) »Remember the two young ex-students.
“I even worked with a vet”
As part of their diploma project, they also rubbed shoulders with engineers, web developers, sound engineers, sociologists, anthropologists, architectural theorists…
Alexandre adds: “I even worked with a veterinarian at Tête d´Or park who offered me a space, in this case the Florida turtle life pool, to install my project there.”
And Kevin to increase: “It is through knowledge sharing, over the course of our projects that we have enriched each other. We have learned a lot by pooling our ideas and our know-how.”
What is design?
“We ask ourselves the question: what is design ? According to U.S, is to give materiality to the desires and needs of users through projects that forge links between actors, everyone's tools and skills.
In a second time, we wanted to give a concrete answer to this question by creating our association if.studio des possibilities.
An association in waiting solution
“This is a group of friends and the idea originated in a bar, explains Alexandre. We wanted a link that keeps us in touch to continue the design together. It was the best way for us to keep dreaming and to show that we were motivated, that we had the fangs, by answering competitions, calls for tenders and even projects without request.” But this activity is not a job, it is only a standby solution, history of not losing the hand or the thread…
An evolving and interactive dimension
" Work at if.studio of possible is to find solutions that are not fixed in order to upset the perceived codes of a design to be contemplated, to own. We try to understand each project by integrating an evolutionary dimension, where the user becomes an actor properly speaking. The project becomes to experiment, To manipulate, to live and bring to life through use. »
Competition at the International Festival of Mixed Gardens
Proof of their overflowing and creative imagination: their participation in the Malongo competition led by Jérémy (around the sharing of coffee in business), the presentation of an application file for the 14th International Festival of Mixed Gardens of Wesserling (whose theme 2016 East “around the world in 80 days”), these merry guys invented a board game : the BOG which is played mainly at the bar because “it requires the pair : a glass and its coaster !” For further explanation, refer to the booklet.
Always experience before a first job…
Rich training, singular routes, multiple experiences, original profiles and yet, Since six months, difficult for them to find the right fit. We are talking about Pôle Emploi, poorly helping public institutions, Employers who ask for experience or who use these ex-students as self-employed, without taking the time to share their journey with them and train them in the realities of the profession.
Headshot dreams
This is why today Thierry, Jean-Malo, Jérémy, Alexandre and Kévin work for the Studio des Possibles, defending a design vision of their own to evolve together. Perhaps also for them an argument of motivation and additional commitment for future maintenance ? Waiting, the studio is a way for them to continue the collaboration with a pencil in hand and full head dreams.
