Through this diary of an atypical traveler, Bernard Heyberger tells us how this Aleppo Christian was able to be brought into Louis XIV's room thanks to a small animal, the jerboa.
The film is part of the series "an animal for Social Sciences ». This is the work of Momoko Seto, the director, who asked the researchers to choose an animal and explain their research to us.

Bernard Heyberger is a historian, specialist in Middle Eastern Christians. Bernard Heyberger is also associate of history, arabisant, and former member of the French School of Rome. He devotes his research to Christians in the Middle East, studied in the political context, local social and cultural.

By studying the diary of a traveler from Aleppo, Hannâ Dyâb, dating from the 17th century, he makes a discovery : his story is strangely similar to that of Ali Baba. Through this newspaper, Bernard Heyberger tells how this Aleppo Christian was able to be brought into the room of Louis XIV thanks to a small animal, the jerboa.
