COVID19: Ramadan and the Moon

Ramadan is an important moment in the life of Muslims. It is marked by the appearance of the first district of the Moon, star announcing the beginning of the fasting period. The date of the first day of Ramadan 2020/1441 will be the 24 avril 2020 very probably (more at least one day, by country).

The Muslim community awaits the curtain raising of Madame la Lune concerning the Ramadan

A large majority of Muslims in the community around the world are eagerly awaiting this moment of the start of Ramadan. According to our sources, the saudis have already lifted the veil and set the date for friday 24 avril. The western world will not be able to see the star because of the weather it seems… This means that from sunrise tomorrow morning, Friday, the period of fasting and abstinence begins. To think about world hunger, to be even closer to the essentials of life, Muslim religion has established this essential act (among its five pillars): 28 at 30 days a year, parenthesis, communion…

Night of doubt leads to Ramadan

Friday 24 avril 2020: time for reflection, forgiveness, of piety is announced. Ramadan also invites sharing and introspection. More, the year 2020 will be different: no collective gathering, no joint meals or preparations in joy and piety to beautify the garden and halls, no evening around a large table, all united around the same belief and above all, no collective prayers within the Mosque. Everything is closed, all these closed gathering and prayer places. In this historic period of the Coronavirus-COVID19 health crisis, what Ramadan 2020 will forever remain in the minds. It will be the one who takes away the believers(...)s, practicing(...)s, Muslim(...)s towards a whirlwind of existential reflections.

A Ramadan of confinement

COVID19 forces less religious confinement and more confinement in a restricted family. Never mind, the heart and soul will be there. Tonight, it is up to the rector of the Paris Mosque to give his verdict to the Muslims of France. “The fast of the monthRamadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. During this month, Muslims over the age required by the currents of Islam should not eat, to drink, to smoke, nor maintain sexual intercourse from dawn to sunset.”

“The French Council of Muslim Worship and the Grand Mosque of Paris are meeting a religious commission this Thursday at 6 p.m. to determine it during “the night of doubt“. Follow our live : upon promulgation, the date will be communicated on this page. It's simple : if the lunar crescent is observable in the sky at the end of the afternoon, ramadan starts this friday 24 avril. If not, it only starts on Saturday 25 avril.”
