The Kerkennah Islands, small archipelago of Tunisia in the Mediterranean, located off Sfax, has this undeniable advantage these days, to be safe from COVID-19 Coronavirus.
Thanks to the salutary responsiveness of local authorities who have, from the first alerts, put maritime traffic under strict control, the islands of Kerkennah flow peaceful days. Indeed, the dozen ferry connections with the Tunisian mainland were immediately reduced to two daily round trips from the city of Sfax, only for refueling and emergencies.
Confinement strict, curfew, placing under fifteen new arrivals, with telephone follow-up : everything has been done to control the situation and avoid overloading the small hospital structure, nestled in Ramla, the economic capital of Kerkennah.
National television and social networks have resolutely played their role of information and education in "barrier gestures". Result: zero cases of Coronavirus found to date in Kerkennah, in Mediterranean.
