The “New Elk Tressois”

The electoral campaign concerning the municipalities has apparently started in Tresses: Axelle Balguerie and her team from “New Elk Tressois” distributed their leaflet regarding their proposals for March 2014. They spent the morning talking with the Tressois and Tressoises who came to do their market this Saturday 26 October 2013.

“Get involved in the management of our town so that it is not managed unilaterally”

They are close to 25 men and women to subscribe to Axelle Balguerie's ideas to introduce themselves and offer the inhabitants of Tresses a new alternative to the next municipal elections (mars 2014). “We don't do politics for power […]. We preserve our town and its heritage while bringing to it the modernity necessary for our lives today.”

On the Nouvel Elan Tressois blog, we can read: “Tressoises, tressois, what are your expectations for living well in your town ?”

Without opposition

In the last elections of 2008, the inhabitants of Tresses had no difficulty in choosing their mayor, (for those who have moved to the town hall), because nobody had appeared in front of the list of Jean-Pierre Soubie, who, three years later decided to give up his place as chief magistrate of Tresses on 4 September 2011, after 34 years of mandate.

By ending his functions as mayor, Jean-Pierre Soubie, however, retained his post as municipal councilor for Tresses. He also kept his post as President of the Community of Communes of the Bordeaux Hillsides, as well as that of general adviser "until maturity", he specifies and President of Gironde Habitat (read the newspaper South West of 5 September 2011).

In stride, his son, Christian Soubie (deputy city councilor, finance officer at the time) was elected by city council, new mayor of Tresses. (SO you 17 September 2011)

Current composition of the municipal team and their role

The municipal council of Tresses is currently composed of twenty-seven members including seven deputy mayors and three delegated councilors.

See website Tresses town hall

The municipal council is a deliberative body elected by universal suffrage for six years, it represents the inhabitants of the commune.

The functioning of the municipal council is determined by the General Code of Territorial Collectivities. The law of 6 February 1992 on territorial administration has come to strengthen local democracy.

To vote

Each young Frenchman who becomes an adult is automatically registered on the electoral lists. The town hall informs the new voter of his registration by mail, without the latter taking any particular steps.

To be able to vote, you must be registered on the electoral lists. Registration is automatic for young people from 18 years. Apart from this situation, registration on the lists must be the subject of a voluntary process before 31 December of the year before the election. You must be aged at least 18 years the day before the first ballot, be of French nationality and enjoy their civil rights.
