What is my future in France?

The future of children in France by Valérie Doulevant

It’s before 16 November (time of the final decision by our policies on the new timetables and rhythms of the child at school) that you must give your opinion : and parents, children, teachers, advisers, EN inspectors, personnel municipal, education and childhood professional want to make their voices heard, want to participate in the debate, it is now. Do not expect to be faced with a fait accompli to protest or confirm, to notice a malfunction. The holidays are also made to reflect and to put our citizen ideas to rest.

If respecting the school timetable of the child would be working on Wednesdays, so yes to reform, more slower… 10% of French municipalities have tried to implement this reform, Quickly. Children pay the price because the extra-curricular activities are turned upside down, childcare facilities were put in place in a rush, the school catering system is sometimes still not adapted… There are even some municipalities which have started to make children work on Wednesday morning at the start of the school year, after rapid consultation, and who returned to the old system for lack of organization. A bonus for this implementation of the new school rhythms was granted to the courageous communes who launched themselves, but again, only 10% have tried this year! This is proof that the time for debate, of the consultation is not over.

Other question marks: why the rhythms, therefore the hours are different from one municipality to another on the national territory ? What justifies this fracture? Different means? Different backgrounds? Doesn't the French State have a duty to smooth education?, to make it equal for all? Even if we know very well that children are not all equal, if only by the difference in the financial means on which their families depend… More, children in all of this? Don't they have the same physiological functioning? School for all is in danger… to the detriment of those who will have to undergo, who will not have had the opportunity, the weather, l & rsquo; envy, energy, the means to speak, to give their opinion. Precipitation kills good intentions and Monsieur Vincent Peillon had better take his time instead of hammering that this reform will take place, no matter the cost. Let us not lose sight of the fact that it is the child who is at the center of the debate, his well-being, his life learning, son instruction.

Final remark: on the altar of the new school rhythms of schoolchildren, children, we must think about not sacrificing the interested party himself.

And the child is tired, if the child no longer follows (from a point of view of the rhythm of the day), if Wednesday morning, he has difficulty getting up even more than usual… then it must be said, talk about, to debate Actually.

WE are the actors of our life and that of our Childrens, the citizens of tomorrow.
