Underworld is a novel by Tonino Benacquista published in 2004.

Underworld, a rough and funny but fascinating film

A former mafia of Italian origin from New York, Fred Blake alias Giovanni Manzoni (Robert de Niro), his wife (Michèle Pfeiffer) and their two children (14 years and 17 years) meet in a country village in the north of France, in the years 80: family secretly resettled as part of FBI witness protection program. Giovanni is wanted by those he denounced, including an imprisoned sponsor (with his jailers at his boot) and, more disturbing, a former colleague in the US Senate…

A way to approach a serious subject, but with derision and an absolute shift (each member of this family settles their accounts in one way… amazing and unexpected). The scenario, simple and complex at the same time, shows us that an ex-mafioso and his delicious wife can father mid-angel children, What demon.

From there to classify the cinema film “for all public”, there is an aberration which shows well the shortcomings of our society, the trivialization of violence, especially the one taking place at school. Our opinion on this point would be to prohibit at least 16 years, put trade requires, our young children have the right to see certain violent scenes. But unsuspecting spectators will be careful not to take their children to this movie night.
