Distressed school teachers… Call for witnesses.

It was back to school. Everything was fine… well almost: the school hoped for the opening of an additional class; everyone was at 400 blows: students, parents of students, the municipal team, the teaching team …. The answer was to arrive that evening, on the part of the French National Education Inspectorate, at 18 hours. Some parents stayed in school to keep an eye on things, try to learn more and lobby.

The sector inspector even came to count the students himself to check the exact number (is to say the confidence that we inspire in our hierarchy!!)

Excitement, waiting, impatience, doubts therefore, car, we don't necessarily realize it, but one more class and one room in a school in the Bordeaux suburbs, it's a big upheaval: the deal is not the same insofar as the classes are a little less overloaded (CP would go from 30 students at 24 for example and the distribution would be totally changed) and the express purchase of school furniture became urgent.

But the atmosphere was excellent because everyone was aware that everyone's efforts made it possible to soften the result… We felt like a festive air, the extra tension, going up, insidiously.

So we pushed the furniture away, in case…

In case a ninth class is created, would be granted…

We were about thirty schools in this case on the department, and only a dozen were to benefit from so-called means “corrects” to teach.

We all worked hard to arrange a space in this too small building (exit the school library which has found its place in the computer room, which we could not, Alas, not push back the walls…)

We all have, ensemble, thought about a new distribution of students that would generate an additional class, according to their level, of their hooked atoms, of their character, of their ability to be autonomous (there were many double level courses).

We have prepared this return to work in the meantime, in the hope, but also in anguish…

We even started working with eight classes, as if nothing had happened, knowing, all, that the situation could change this Friday evening, four days after the start of the school year.

The town hall waited, in the same state of mind, the last moment (savings and foresight require) to order the necessary furniture in case of a ninth class.

In a word, we all spent a back-to-school weekend, exhausted, emptied. Pending… of a sentence (get by and stay in your limelight) or a decision that seemed obvious to us and that would allow us to work in better conditions. (to be continued)
